FILMSTAR MOVES AHEAD WITH LATEST ACQUISITION

Los Angeles, CA, October 10, 2001: Filmstar Productions has just acquired the rights to the comedy script Extreme Dating, penned by Jeff Schectman. This project will be the second film of 3 projects Filmstar Productions has committed to produce and finance each year. Filmstar just finished post production on Outta Time, an action thriller starring Mario Lopez, Ali Landry and John Saxon.

Lorena David (Eastside,Outta Time) is attached to direct eXtreme Dating and Mark Roberts will produce.  “As an independent film company we are lucky to be fully financed to produce a number of projects each year. We plan on being very commercially minded with the scripts we take on,” says producer Mark Roberts. eXtreme Dating will be Executive Produced by Filmstar Productions' Larry Crowder and John Powell. “This script is absolutely hysterical. We are so pleased that Lorena and Mark found such a great product,” says Crowder. Pre-production is slated to begin next month.

Extreme Dating is the story of four twenty-something friends who decide that the only way to win over one’s true love is to put them in extreme circumstances. After setting up a false kidnapping extreme date, their hired “kidnappers” have a different plan and the extreme date quickly escalates out of control. “This script is just screaming to be made into a film. It has all the elements, good dialogue, funny situations and amazing characters. As a director, it’s a dream job,” states Lorena David.

Extreme Dating, will replace Filmstar’s most recent project, Third Eagle, which has been pushed off their schedule indefinitely. Third Eagle, a thriller in which the First Lady is on the run from terrorists, was in pre-production but due to the tragic events of September 11th Filmstar felt that it would be best to put the project on hold.

Filmstar recently released the film Poor White Trash starring Sean Young, Jamie Pressley, William Devane, Jason London and M. Emmet Walsh.

Jeff Schectman is repped by Debbie Deuble of The Don Buchwald Agency and Noah Rosen of D-No Entertainment.
