FRANCHISE PICTURES ACQUIRES RIGHTS TO eXtreme
dating"
Los Angeles, CA, November 6, 2003: In a
deal brokered by John Sloss and Paul Brennan of Cinetic
Media, Franchise Pictures has
acquired worldwide rights to the action-comedy, eXtreme
dating. Directed by Lorena David (Eastside, Outta
Time), the ensemble cast features Devon Sawa
(Final Destination), Jamie-Lynn DiScala
(The Sopranos), Meat Loaf (Fight
Club), Amanda Detmer (The Majestic)
and Andrew Keegan (10 Things I Hate About
You). The cast was assembled by casting director Joseph
Middleton (American Pie 1 & 2, Legally Blonde,
and Bring it On).
The film tells the story of four friends who believe that
the key to winning over their true loves is to place themselves
in extreme situations. They plot a fake kidnapping but the
plan goes awry when the kidnappers turn out to be ex-cons
with plans of their own. The remaining friends must now rescue
the captives and manage to avoid the law at the same time.
"Extreme Dating is a hilarious film with
a broad appeal to all ages. We are pleased to be affiliated
with the project," says Elie Samaha, Chairman and CEO
of Franchise Pictures.
Extreme Dating was produced by Mark A. Roberts.
The next project for Roberts/David Films is Strangers
With Candy: The Movie. Written and starring
Amy Sedaris, Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert, the comedy
is slated to begin production in Summer 2004.
