At a young age, Lorena David envisioned being a filmmaker with a goal: to make movies that provoke and inspire an audience. Her dream came true in 1996 when she produced her first film, PLUMP FICTION, a critically-acclaimed spoof of Quentin Tarantino films which was the first theatrical project released by powerhouse music giant Rhino Records. Next, David and producing partner Mark Roberts collaborated with Carlos Gallardo, star of El Mariachi (Columbia Pictures) on the film SINGLE ACTION. The action adventure marked Gallardo's feature film directorial debut and another profitable release for David and Roberts.

As her credits grew, so did David's admiration for strong female directors. Inspired by such as directors as Kathryn Bigelow and Mimi Leder, David made her own directorial debut with BRAVO, an action film set in the heart of Mexico. Next, she directed EASTSIDE, a heartfelt story of a criminal who becomes a local hero. The film starred Mario Lopez and David's skills garnered rave reviews from critics ("Eastside is sharp, fast, energetic, yet has depth, dimension and wit." --Kevin Thomas, Los Angeles Times).

David produced the quirky comedy POOR WHITE TRASH that brought Sean Young back to the screen in a standout role, and co-stars hot up-and-comers Jaime Presley and Jason London. She also produced the award winning short, "La Femme Ballon," which won several prestigious festivals and debuted to acclaim on Showtime in the Latino Film Festival.

She directed the action drama OUTTA TIME (aka The Courier) set on the Mexican/American border. Lopez again took the lead role and David surrounded him with a mix of veterans, John Saxon (Enter the Dragon, The Unforgiven) and Dyana Ortelli (La Bamba, The Three Amigos) and breakout newcomers Ali Landry (Beautiful), Nancy O'Dell (The Bachelor, "Access Hollywood") and Carlos Mencia (HBO's "Funny is Funny").

David's recent directing project was extreme Dating, a romantic comedy about twenty-somethings convinced the only way to cement true love is to be put in extreme circumstances. Cast by renowned casting director Joseph Middleton of American Pie and Legally Blonde fame, the movie stars Amanda Detmer (The Majestic, Final Destination), Devon Sawa (Final Destination, Idle Hands), Meat Loaf and Jamie-Lynn Sigler (HBO's "The Sopranos").

STRANGERS WITH CANDY, one of David's latest producing projects, had its world premiere at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival. The big-screen adaptation of Comedy Central's cult hit not only stars but is written by the series' original stars and creators Amy Sedaris, Paul Dinello and Stephen Colbert.
