Max Velez

Max Velez started his career working in the film industry as a production assistant on Abel Ferrara’s dark crime drama, BAD LIEUTENANT. He continued to work in production on various films (both independent and studio), shooting on location in New York City while going to film school at Hunter College. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Film and Communications, Max worked as an assistant and development executive at production companies such as New Yorker Films, C2 Pictures, Spyglass Entertainment, Outerbanks Entertainment and Roberts/David Films, Inc.

While at Roberts/David Films, Inc. Max transitioned into producing, earning an associate producer credit on the psychological thriller, DANIKA, directed by Ariel Vromen, starring Marisa Tomei, Craig Bierko and Regina Hall. He next co-produced the crime drama, THE COVERUP, directed by Brian Jun, starring Gabriel Mann, Eliza Dushku and John Savage. He then transitioned into television with the company and worked as a segment producer on 2 seasons of the reality car competition series, MY RIDE RULES.

Max then produced the crime drama, THE BANDIT, directed by Brian Jun, starring Mark Pellegrino, Alicia Witt, Ryan O'Nan and Tom Guiry. He later went on to produce a narrative short film, THE CHARLATAN, directed by Alexis Spraic, starring Tom Sizemore, Kai Lennox and Rob Zabrecky. It premiered at the Palm Springs International ShortsFest, then played at Aspen ShortsFest and Newport Beach Film Festival among a few others. He then produced the award winning short documentary, THE HOUSE IS INNOCENT, directed by Nicholas Coles, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival and went on to win multiple awards at dozens of national and international film festivals.

Max most recently produced the true crime documentary, LOVE & BETRAYAL ON THE FORCE, directed by Mark Roberts. It's currently streaming on Amazon Prime. He also co-produced a feature length documentary about the life and art of the visionary painter, Carlos Almaraz. CARLOS ALMARAZ: PLAYING WITH FIRE, directed by Richard Montoya and Elsa Flores Almaraz is currently streaming on Netflix.
